Whispering Winds ~ Alfred Newman & Ken Darby (1960)
Ray Nance, the 'triple threat' as Duke called him. Trumpet (his famous solo on 'Take the 'A' Train'), violinist and 'singer'. One of the greatest jazz discs and jazz concerts- the night when tenorist Paul Gonsalves slays 'Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue' and the audience goes wild!
my grandpa wrote this tune!
Yes mate! Don George?
I was in the army in 1973 station in Alaska when I heard this great music, LOVE AND PEACE.

67 Years later and this is STILL Miles ahead of the Rest
A lot of hall of famers on this album.
Straight Facts. A musical all-star team.

Ms. Ashby just swings with such graceful force. Frank Weiss puts the crowning touch just floating on flute, and that rhythm section is anchored by the underated bassist Wendell Marshall. The just cook! Thanks for posting.
amazing..good work brother
Listening to this while i ride a freight train through oregon just feels so right
12:00 The Sounds Of The Universe Coming In My Window
Old Frisco with its end of land sadness...this is describing the indescribable, a job of work that can only be executed by rare Angels, discarded and misunderstood individuals who remain with us, only for a short poignant time. While they are here we begrudgingly accord them a little fame, a little money perhaps (not very often). RUclips the vast library of today's Alexandria, taken very much for our granted attention.
Jack Kerouac. Originalement Québecois, a grandi en langue française. Mexico City Blues" one of the best poetry books of the XXth century.
What a gem!
This changed my brain chemistry. Loved every second of it! ❤
Thanks for posting this!
Just discovered this man ,pure genius. The Belfast poet Andrew Beattie. Food for thought...
They played their pianos by directly striking the strings and by installing devices to give their pianos "spacy" sounds.
These songs are making my day better. Thanks for sharing.😊
Great album thanks for posting. An earlier time in Dorothy Ashby's music when it was not seemingly swamped by an arranger (though the Rubaiyat is a wonderful exception) Recommend the Fantastic Jazz Harp of Dorothy Ashby LP to anyone
Ananda Shankar великий композитор, его музыка шедевр.

How many people know that if there weren't no Steve Allen, there would not have been "Star Wars" music... and if there had been no Kerouac, there would not have been a Bob Dylan, a Jim Morrison, or a Tom Waits . . etc, etc... . . . and very likely, no Rap . . no Rap poetry, no Rap music...

Randy Wood, president of Dot Records, hated this record so much that he stopped distribution shortly after it was released.
